Eros Association

jam
Eros Association (Robbie Swan and Fiona Patten) Australia Probably the world's most successful campaigners for pornography, fearlessly lobbying MPs and aggressively campaigning for the freedom of erotic expression. In 1995-6 they successfully persuaded John Howard's new conservative federal government to abort its plans to ban X rated films. In September 2007, they conducted a very private lobbying campaign with the heads of Kerry Packer's adult magazine empire and eventually won the day: the Online Services Content Bill Bill that went into parliament in October had all the criminal provisions removed. The Eros Association published Hypocrites, a book exposing the world's Roman Catholic child sex abusers, which gave the victims in Australia the confidence to speak out, hence the huge demo against the Pope in Sydney in July 2008. They have also produced some beautiful erotic publications. Their trade magazine Eros is sent to 1,000 organisations around the world.

Meena Seshu

helena
Founded a union for sex workers in India called SANGRAM which has become a highly successful sex workers' self help group, promoting pride in their work, and inspiring safety measures, including the negotiation of condom use with clients. Meena is one of the AIDS and human rights heroes of South Asia and works with the United Nations. Sadly, India adopted the Swedish Model of criminalising clients in June 08, but Meena soldiers on.
