Bob Flanagan (27th December 1952 - 4th January 1996)

American writer, poet, musician, performance artist, comic and Cystic Fibrosis sufferer, who lived an unusually long time considering his condition, and who survived his life using SM and performance art. He was the subject of the documentary
Sick: The Life & Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (1997), by Kirby Dick, which documents the final years of his life. Flanagan performed throughout the US, often in collaboration with his partner Sheree Rose. Together, Flanagan and Rose combined text, video, and live performance in highly personal but universal explorations of sex, illness, and mortality.
